BMW driver Robert Jones driving down a steep path in Todmorden, West Yorkshire, which his unidentified satnav had sadi was a road, and failed to notice the approaching cliff until he found himself rammed up against a fence above Gauxholme railway bridge, on Sunday morning. A crowd gathered to watch heavy machinery come in to prevent the car from tipping over the edge, an operation that took nine hours. As one onlooker commented to the local Halifax Courier: “”When there’s not a road in front of you, don’t keep driving”.
The driver has been summonsed to court for driving without due care and attention.
