Geotagging for DSLRs - Nikon GP-1 reviewed

John Biehler has reviewed the Nikon GP-1, an add-on for DSLRs that automatically geotags your images as you take them. The verdict? Costly, but very cool.

Overall I’m very happy with the GP-1. I had researched other options out there and it just made more sense to go with this product rather than the others. There are third party products that do almost exactly the same thing except have on board batteries (great, something else to charge) and there has been numerous reports online of shoddy build quality on some of these third party units. I’d rather pay a little more for a first party product that is solidly built and just works.

I have no doubt that this is a solid, well-functioning add-on for your Nikon DSLR, but for me it’s just too expensive.
I use my iPhone with GeoLogTag to achieve the same result. This involves a bit more work, but the app just costs $5 and GPSPhotoLinker (Mac) is freeware.

Seems gp-1 is not good enough and heard too many complaints. So I move on to Easytagger GPS and quite happy with it up to now.
