Regular readers of our games reviews will know that Gameloft is renowned for games of a consistent price and quality and put other smartphone games to shame on ordinary, non-smart handsets.  Recently, however, there was a price rise and this month the consistency is broken again with a distinctly sub-par game.

First glances are up to Gameloft’s usual high graphical standard, particularly in the choice of 21 iconic cars from 12 different manufacturers, including Dodge Vipers and Audi R8’s. These look great in motion too, which alas is more than you can say for the tracks.

Although some of these are officially licensed from the likes of Laguna Seca, they bear only a passing resemblance to any real-life track and are beset by occasionally sluggish handling.

This is a real shame, as with three championships available that vary from straight up racing to time trial and endurance, there’s plenty of Ridge Racer-style action here to enjoy. However, the occasionally juddery frame rate prevents it from being the best mobile racer you can buy.

Price: From £3
Verdict: 7/10
