mDesktop is an interesting concept, it effectively brings Window Mobile to the desktop. In our opinion a concept that surely defeats the purpose of a mobile device. However, a device goes from destination to destination and when at a desktop location mDesktop can be called into action. The software, installed on a desktop, offers an alternative to managing content on a mobile device. Users at a static location simply get connected and interact. The program effectively gives an overview of the different elements of a device via its dashboard. A selection of panels, ie, Phone, Contacts, SMS, Files, Pictures, occupy the dashboard, but it’s the ability to minimize, maximise and move the panels that gives mDesktop its personality. Alternatively, all the individual elements can be accessed via a tabbed panel to the left. In running order there is Phone, call using the desktop dialpad, SMS, view messages, Contacts, search contacts and edit information, Agenda, add tasks and appointments much quicker, Pictures, view as thumbnails and in default viewer and Files, arrange files and folders, add new folders and rename. Next up is Screen, which gives a live update of the mobile device screen. We know its simple but we really loved this feature.
