Hands-on: Acer DX900 dual-SIM phone
The Acer DX900 is the first Windows Mobile-powered smartphone with two SIM slots, and is ideally suited to professional users who want to combine their business and personal phones into a single handset.

The dual-SIM feature works pretty well, enabling you to choose which you will use when dialling out, and also handling incoming in an impressively unfussy way.

Here’s a quick clip showing how it handles a call to the second SIM when the first is already in use:

Note here that if you reject the incoming call it will divert to voice mail.

Data connections are only made through SIM1, if it is available, as that supports 3.5G; the second SIM only 2G.

The phone itself is solid Windows Mobile fare. The DX900 is one of the glofiish models brought over from Acer’s acquisition of ETEN last year and is perhaps showing its age a touch, especially in the looks department – there is an undeniable heft to the handset. However it does have that one true unique selling point that makes it worthier of so many of the also-ran Windows Mobile devices.

The Acer DX900 is on sale now from www.clove.co.uk.
