The peculiarly named Richard Solo 1800 is a snap-on battery pack for the iPhone (and is also available for other smartphones as well).
It has 1800mAh capacity, meaning it can recharge and iPhone or iPod fully and still have enough juice for a further top-up. It also comes with a couple of additional functions of limited value: a torch and a laser pointer.
The device works as advertised, just connect it to the iPhone and it will charge fully within a couple of hours.
Yet because the connector is attached directly to the battery, rather than via an additional cable as is the more common approach with these things, you can’t actually access the headphone jack when it is connected, so can’t charge and listen to music at the same time. And despite the inclusion of a brace, the connection between the two units does feel a touch fragile.
