Symbian has annouced that it has completed the migration of its entire platform to open source. The move, which was completed four months ahead of schedule, now makes billions of dollars of code available to developers for free.

Linux User mag relaunches

linux-user1The relaunch issue of the popular Linux User & Developer magazine has gone on sale today, featuring an article by Linux legend John Maddog Hall on Android and the future of open source telephony, as well an in-depth tutorial on developing for the OpenMoko platform and the freerunner phone.

Other highlights include an exclusive interview with Mark Shuttleworth, a guide to mastering debugging techniques, plus loads of tutorials including Networking scanning, creating reports in OpenOffice, increasing security with pfSense, creating a custom twitter client, benchmarking an apache server and more.
