Cloud computing comes to mobile devices. Protect your security by storing data online, and access powerful online apps including office suites. And it can all be available when you are offline too. We take a look at the wonderful new world of Google Gears for Mobile.

zoho

Zoho
Zoho is an online service that offers a comprehensive suite of office-type web applications, each of which is designed to enhance productivity while mobile. Sign up for a free account, point IE Mobile to mobile.zoho.com and you will have access to a range of powerful tools that include a word-processor (Zoho Writer), a spreadsheet application (Zoho Sheet), a presentation tool (Zoho Show) and even project management software.

Like Buxfer, the developers of Zoho have recognised the potential benefits that Gears has to offer the end user and have recently built offline capabilities into Zoho Writer using Google’s open source code. This means that you can continue working on word-processed documents, even if you lose your internet connection. As soon as a connection is re-established, your data is synchronised with your account space on the Zoho server.
