Whether you use BlackBerry, Symbian or Windows Mobile you will discover that no mobile OS is perfect. Each one missed certain features that you assumed would be there. Here are the solutions to eight smartphone FAQs.
I can’t install software to my Symbian phone?
Go to Application Manager / Options and then change Software installation to ‘all’ and Online certificate check to ‘off’. This should allow the majority of applications to install correctly, but some may still require signing.
How do I set up profiles in Windows Mobile?
One of the best options is to install SBSH PhoneWeaver which allows full profile management and even automatic starting and finishing dependent on the time.
My BlackBerry only has a Wi-Fi browser?
Once your account set up is complete with your network provider a standard browser should be available. If you can only use the internet with Wi-Fi, contact your provider for help.
Where is the flash support in Windows Mobile?
It’s at www.adobe.com where you can download Flash Lite for free. It is not always included with new devices, but the software is stable and well worth spending a few minutes to install.
My Windows Mobile keyboard is far too small!
Resco makes a title called Keyboard PRO which brings full finger typing to the Windows Mobile platform. It will take some getting used to, but perseverance will pay dividends.
My BlackBerry emails don’t pop up?
BlackBerry emails are, by default, notified by no more than a flashing light. Aerize Email Alerts will pop up your emails and even includes the full text of incoming emails if required.
I can’t set automatic reminders in my Symbian calendar?
Handy Calendar will solve this problem and bring many extra features with it. You can set it up to work in almost any way you like and is ideal for power schedulers.
Why can I not silence my BlackBerry’s camera shutter sound?
Use BerryAnnoying to disable the camera shutter sound. We have no idea why this feature is missing from so many devices, but at least a solution is available.
