Photo management is usually left to the computer. As smartphones become more powerful and sport larger resolution screens, some of those tools are starting to make their way to the mobile device.

Getting your pictures online has become very easy thanks to all of the major photo services and social networking sites creating clients for different models of phones and smartphones.  Even if a client is not available for your model of phone, you can normally upload a new photo by emailing it to a special email address that they create specifically for your account.

If you are a MySpace user and want to use your smartphone to upload photos, head here.  There you will find myspace clients for BlackBerry, iPhone, and Andriod phones (like the T-Mobile G1).  These clients allow you to use many of the rich features of myspace on your smartphone, as well as upload photos.  It allows you to write a caption for the photo and even choose the album it must be uploaded to.

If you are a Facebook user there are also some mobile options available.  An unofficial Facebook client called SkyBook (previously called Snap2Face) is available for Windows Mobile smartphones.  You can download it here.

screen3If you are a BlackBerry user you can download a Facebook client from the BlackBerry web site.  In fact if you open your BlackBerry Browser and go to mobile.blackberry.com, you will be able to download it directly to your phone.

Geotagging, or embedding the GPS coordinates into a photo is becoming more common now.  Smartphones like the BlackBerry and iPhone include GPS radios and if you enable Geotagging, when you take a picture, the GPS coordinates are inserted into the photo.  Those GPS coordinates can be used by web sites like Flickr to automatically show where that picture was taken.  Since including GPS data in a phot is a fairly new practice, many older photo editing programs actually delete that information if you edit and save the picture.  Always make sure that your photo editing software retains the GPS information.
