Tethering: How to use your smartphone as a modem
Tethering is also possible using other platforms

Tethering is also possible using other platforms. For example, you can use a Symbian enabled Nokia S60 phone as a wireless modem using the standard Nokia PC Suite application on a Windows PC. It is also possible (theoretically at least) to tether the new Palm Pre, but we are still uncertain as to whether service providers will allow users to do this.

In the US Sprint had initially discussed tethering via Bluetooth or USB, but very shortly afterwards removed the suggestion from their specs page. Providers such as Verizon and AT&T are not planning to allow customers to officially tether their handsets. However, there are conflicting reports, so if you are a Palm Pre user, contact your network provider to seek up-to-date advice on whether you can or cannot tether your phone without incurring an unexpected hefty bill.
In the meantime, check out an app called My Tether for Palm Pre as this acts in a similar way to WalkingHotSpot and lets you tether over USB or Bluetooth PAN.
